Prospective First Years

What is the time commitment like?

The club meets once a week - on Wednesdays, in Blow 332. Each house also has their individual unofficial events (movie nights, study sessions, house dinners, etc.) that are planned around the schedules of the members. You can attend as many events as are feasible and manageable for you!

How can I find out more information about the club?

Come find us at our booth on Admitted Students Day! We'd be happy to answer any and all questions you may have. If you are already a student at the College, come talk to us at the Fall Activities Fair!

You've convinced me - how do I join?

We'll have a sign up sheet during the Fall Activities Fair! Come say hello! Sorting will take place a few weeks later, in Wren.

How are students sorted into houses? Will my house match my Pottermore house?

At the beginning of the year, all new members are given a sorting quiz. The excutive board then convenes to discuss all the quizzes, and to sort our lovely new members! The decisions made are based solely off of this quiz. It is possible that your house in WizMug will not match your results on Pottermore. All of the houses in the club are phenomenal; you will be happy wherever you end up! In WizMug, your house becomes like your family - no matter where you are, your fellow housemates will be incredibly supportive and welcoming. Our sorting ceremony is one of our favorite traditions in the club - it takes place in the illustrious Wren building, and it is officiated by the Sorting Hat itself.

Does it cost money to join the club?

Dues for the year are $10, which provides the club with enough funds to host our annual balls and banquets (see that page for more details) and to subsidize our club shirts at the end of the year!
